| Here we have a Kay vintage lap steel from the 1940’s It has an amazing Jade Green 'granite' painted finish with decorative fret markers, very lightweight wood body, and a large single-coil Kay pickup that sounds great! The tone control is actually a 2-position switch with either full treble or a very mellow bass. As was the norm in those days, the connection lead is hard-wired. It has the original Kluson tuners but the buttons have been replaced (the originals from the era almost invariably crumble). It also has the original white bakelite volume and tone controls, mounted on the original yellowed white plate. This vintage lap steel is in remarkably good condition, with the only 'issues' being some light wear in the finish on the lower bout, a little scuff on the end of headstock, and a past owner has written some note names in very small letters on the 'fretboard'. They would be very easy to remove, should the new owner wish. The original case also comes with this lap steel, but it is in poor condition, showing its 60-odd-year age.
