| This is one cool vintage Maton. Extremely ES330-like, with its 24 3/4 inch scale and fully hollow thinline body whose shape is virtually pure Gibson, this thing both looks great and is a lot of fun to play. The pickups sound amazingly good - Aussie humbuckers with adjustable polepieces on one coil, once again just like Gibson. The guitar has had two owners, but the last owner, who bought it in 1978, played mainly acoustic guitar and bass, so this instrument has virtually spent the last 30 years in its case in a wardrobe. The condition of the guitar is astounding, with no fading to the stunning sunburst finish. There are some very minor 'worming' marks on the back, and the front has a scratch emanting from the bottom of the bass-bout f-hole, where the tremolo arm has worn through the paint when folded in the case (the rubber tip was missing when we puchased the guitar, so a new custom tip was fashioned to ensure no more damage occurs to the guitar's top). There are also some minor chips to the edges at the bottom and on the headstock, which can be seen in the 'more pictures' link below. I've just strung it up with a set of my favourite 10-52 strings, and it plays and sounds absolutely fantastic. There is a volume and tone knob for each pickup, plus a 3-position selector switch and a master volume control. The timber used on this guitar is beautifully flamey - I don't know if the standard of appointments andc workmanship is the reason this model got the 'Deluxe' tag to its name, but if not, it should have! It's a very, very pretty guitar. The original case is just a fibreboard (cardboard) affair, which has seen better days, but which is still functional. It has been gaffa-taped in the past, and more recently re-glued $2995AUD (plus shipping)
