| This handmade custom Stratocaster® was purchased from Gerard Gilet in 2000 by the previous owner. I have been a big fan of Gerard's handmade guitars since I met him back in the late 1970s in Sydney. This Strat® has been extremely well cared for, and is in stunning condition. Due to the previous owner's work commitments, it has been in storage since it was purchased. He had a slight modification done, feeling the nitro finish on the neck was a tad too thick for his tastes, and sent the guitar to Ochoteco Guitars in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley to have the neck 'reliced' so it has the appearance and feel of being played in but it still has the thinnest of nitro coating. I'm not convinced this was a good move, and have been tempted to return the guitar to Gerard Gilet to have the neck refinished. The neck is BIG - if you don't like big, chunky vintage necks, this guitar is not for you! The guitar has an American Alder premium body with nitro vintage burst finish, Sperzel locking tuners, Wilkinson tremolo, Kinman HX Fat 60s pickups. This guitar is light at just 3.5kg (7.7 pounds) and it resonates incredibly well - better, I must say, than any Fender® or Custom Shop® Strat® I have ever played! It comes in its original Hiscox case. I have also finally managed to purchase the Gilet Telecaster® from the previous owner of this Strat®!
