| Here we have a stunning 'lawsuit' made-in-Japan copy by the revered Greco company. Pre 1974 the logo read 'Gneco', and I suspect this 'JB' model was made in the Fuji-Gen Gakki factory in 1973, the first year of Fender® copies (other than the Telecaster®, which they had been copying since 1968). It is in stunning, totally original condition, right down to the original bridge cover with the big 'G' embossed on it. Pre 1975, Greco (and many other Japanese manufacturers) did not put serial numbers on their instruments, so this one simply has 'MADE IN JAPAN' stamped on the original neck plate. Grecos made in the Matsumoku factory also had 'Matsumoku' stamped on the plates, leading me to believe this is a Fuji-Gen Gakki instrument (Fuji-Gen later became famous for their production of Ibanez guitars, as well as the highly-regarded Fender Japan instruments). This bass will satisfy the fussy collector, or the fussy musician! It's very collectable, and very playable. Neck is gunbarrel straight, the frets show barely any wear, and everything works and sounds just as it should. The instrument comes in a perfect-condition molded hard shell case.
