Here's a very interesting and collectable vintage Australian acoustic guitar that plays and sounds great, and is super cheap! And yes, the top is solid, not laminated!

Wayne guitars were made in Melbourne from the '40s until the late '60s or early '70s in fairly small numbers. This is only the second that I have come across. This guitar has the Aussie flag on the headstock, yet the label states the guitar was made 'for' Wayne Guitars of Australia, so it may well have been of early Japanese construction. It's certainly nicely made (not as 'quirky' or awkward in style as the other I have seen), and sounds surprisingly good. It's an obvious and unabashed copy of Gibson's famous Hummingbird model, with the headstock design being a direct lift from Martin!

It's tidy, but not mint. No issues, with the neck set being perfect and plenty of fret life left. A very interesting and playable guitar for the collector or player.

This bargain vintage guitar even comes with a great hard shell case.

I have been sent an interesting link by a customer, which indicates that the great build quality and tone may well be attributable to the guitar being a 'rebadged' vintage Takamine! Take a look at the article by clicking here. Interesting!

Sold to Wayne (no kidding!) in Sydney
