This amp was handbuilt in October 2003 in Broken Hill, and is the result of a collaboration between a dedicated amp nut and a retired electrical engineer, who hand-wound the transformers after carefully studying the characteristics of the original units. They have built several amps for appreciative owners, 2 of which bought their AC30 reproductions through Grouse Guitars. This is serial number 4 (see the last photo in the 'more pictures' link below). The cabinet is built from waterproof plywood to the exact specs of the original Vox, and the handformed chassis supports a beautifully-built point-to-point tag-strip circuit. Once again, check out the photos in the 'more pictures' link below. This amp includes both an EF86 preamp section and a brighter Top Boost preamp with 12AX7s. Each of the preamps has a high and low sensitivity input, and the real beauty with these is that you can connect a jumper lead between the two channels to dial in whatever tone and gain you want. The speaker is a very expensive Celestion-built Vox Blue Bulldog, and is a large reason the amp is as loud as it is, and as toneful. This is an extremely reluctant sale, and is being done purely because I can't justify keeping the Ultratone Custom Forty and Vadis 401 if I don't let something go. It's just been given a service, and has a fresh set of output valves. The amp measures 53cm(W) x 55cm(H) x 27cm(D) and weighs just over 22kg - shipped size and weight will be slightly higher.
